Your child’s day

What does a typical day look like?

Our days balance guided activities and child-led play, with stories, music, movement, outdoor activities, meals and rest. Activities are adapted for each child’s age.

What curriculum do you follow?

We use the FunShine Express Buttercups curriculum for infants and toddlers and the Fireflies curriculum for preschoolers. We also add play-based, Montessori-inspired activities and adapt learning to each child’s age, interests and developmental needs.

How do you prepare children for kindergarten?

Preschool activities build early literacy, number sense, problem-solving, confidence and social skills. Children practice these skills through art, nature investigations, circle time and play.

How do you help a new child settle in?

Every child adjusts at a different pace. We offer comfort, learn what helps each child feel secure, follow familiar routines when possible and keep parents updated.

How do you communicate with parents?

Miss Nana shares daily updates about your child’s activities, routines and progress. You can discuss the best way to stay in touch when you tour.

Do you help with potty training?

Yes. Beginning around 20 months when a child shows signs of readiness, we use gentle reminders, practice and encouragement without pressure. We work with parents for consistency.

How do you support children with big emotions?

We help children name their feelings and use our calm corner when they need time to reset. Depending on the child’s needs, we may offer a fidget or sensory toy, quiet time, comfort or gentle guidance. When the child feels ready, we help them return to play and learning.

How do you handle biting?

We address biting immediately to keep every child safe. We comfort the child who was bitten, supervise closely, look for triggers, redirect and teach safer ways to communicate. We partner with parents on a consistent prevention plan. If biting continues despite support and creates an ongoing safety risk, care may be discontinued.

What is your approach to discipline?

We use positive, age-appropriate guidance. Toddlers are redirected toward a safer or more appropriate activity. Older children are given a brief, quiet pause and supported in thinking about their choice, understanding how it affected others and practicing a better choice. We do not use harsh punishment or shame.

What is your child care philosophy?

We believe children learn best when they feel safe, loved and free to explore. Through play-based, Montessori-inspired experiences, we support the whole child socially, emotionally, physically and academically. We follow each child’s interests, encourage independence and partner closely with families.
